BRO has made world’s longest road tunnel
Proud moment for every Indians that BRO has made world’s longest road tunnel and it will be inaugurated by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi in September month.
This road tunnel has been constructed at 10000 ft. BRO took 10 years in this construction but there is a happiest moment for every traveler who wants to explore Ladakh throughout the year and 46 kilometers has been reduced between Leh & Manali. This road tunnel’s name will be dedicated to former Prime Minister Bharatratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee and the name for this tunnel is Atal Rohtang Tunnel. ( BRO Photo)
As we already told you that this tunnel is constructed at an altitude of 10000 ft. & it is connected to Rohtang Pass. Tunnel’s length is 8.8 kilometres & width is 10 meters. As you know distance is also reduced so you can finish this distance within 10 mins.
According to Govt. sources 4 more tunnels going to be built on the Nali-Leh road. This Atal Rohtang Tunnel’s inauguration will be done by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the end of September month. As we told you this tunnel connects Manali to Leh and it also connects Lahul-Spiti with Manali in Kullu.
There are many benefits & advantages of this tunnel, majorly our indian army will get lots of benefits like arms & logistics can be easily transferred throughout the year. Only Zozila Pass supply the good to the army but now this tunnel also participate in this supply.
Any vehicle can cross this tunnel but the maximum speed will be 80 kms per hour. Its construction was started on 28th june 2010 and it is built by the Border Road Organization. and this tunnel’s shaoe is like a horseshoe.
We should be thankful of every enginees, soldiers amd every staff for this achievement and lots of hardwork and efforts they gave in building this in every kind of weather whether its rains or winter. in winter season temperature is used to go to minus 30 degrees. In this construction approximate 8 lacs cubic meter of stone & soil were took out. 5 meters per day were cut out in summer season and in winter it was decreased to half a meter
This Atal Rohtang Tunnel is built in a way that you will never face any traffic because 3000 cars or 1500 trucks can cross this tunnel at once. Its cost is approximate 4000 crores INR. Inside the tunnel State-Of-The-Art Australian tunneling method is used and the ventilation is also made properly; used on the basis of Australian technology.
DRDO has also contrio in the making of design of this tunnel to save from snow & avalanche. For the safety purpose security camers are also fixed in this tunnel to control the speed & accidents. In the case of fire there is also a fire hydrant at every 200 meters.
