Golden Triangle Trip with Abhaneri Highlights:
This vacation takes you down Rajasthan’s kaleidoscopic route, beginning in the colorful Pink Capital City of Rajasthan, Jaipur. In this metropolis, all of India’s contrasts and tensions are strikingly obvious. From the Pink City to the colorful paintings and changing the Red Sand Stone of Agra City to the Mughal Emperor’s built city where the world famous The Taj Mahal lies in Agra for more than 500 years; you will experience the Monument of Love. Set out on an adventure through the country side and urban areas. If the words “colors” and “Rajasthan” come to mind, as well as “love” and “Taj,” then this journey is for you.
In Jaipur and other places on route to Agra, one can explore Forts, Havelies, Temples, and Monuments that remind us of Rajasthan’s and Mughal’s and rulers’ long-forgotten history. The Rajputs, warriors who claim to be descended from the sun, moon, and fire and who had lived these places for over a thousand years, have left vivid memories. With the entrance of the British, they lost their rank and wealth, but they left behind a rich cultural history. Fortunately, some of their creations are still visible in Rajasthan, whether they have been transformed into heritage hotels, are in ruins, or are conserved in museums. The Rajput flavor has persisted until this day, and it is free to the public to admire.
Drive From Jaipur to Agra (260 KMS/ 04.05 HRS. )
Early in the morning, depart for Agra on a Same-Day Excursion/Return Trip. Be driven from Jaipur to Agra (260 kilometers / 4 and a half hours)
Visit Abhaneri (Chand Baori), an 8th century step well, an way.
The Chand Baori is a step well in Rajasthan’s Abhaneri hamlet that dates back over a thousand years. It is one of the world’s largest stepwells, as well as one of the most picturesque.
It was established by King Chanda sometime in the 9th century in the eastern region of Rajasthan’s province. The Chand Baori is a difficult landmark to locate, making it one of India’s best-kept secrets!
The Chand Baori well was constructed in the 8th and 9th centuries and has 3,500 tiny steps that fall 20 meters to the well’s bottom.
Stepwells were erected in the desert zones of Rajasthan centuries ago to offer water all year. The structure is no longer utilized as a well, but its elegant geometry attracts both local and foreign tourists. It is India’s largest and deepest stepwell, with 13 storeys, and was created for water collecting in the 9th century.
It was called after King Chand Raja of the Gujara Pratihara clan, who claimed to be descended from Lord Ram’s younger brother Laxman. The Pratihara dynasty ruled over Rajasthan from the 6th to the 10th century AD. Mandore, near Jodhpur, was their capital.
It is built in the shape of a rectangular courtyard. Upon entering, you will come upon a jharokha (windows). As you descend the left-hand stairwell, you’ll notice the enormous baori diminishing towards the bottom, crisscrossed with double flights of steps on three sides to reach the water’s edge.
On three sides, the stairs ring the lake, while on the fourth, a pavilion with three stores with fine carved jharokhas, galleries supported by pillars, and two projecting balconies enshrining gorgeous statues encircles the water.
Stepwells, also known as bawdi or baori, are a unique feature of this country. Steps constructed into the walls of the wells lead down to the water.
Proceed to Agra after viewing Abhaneri, an 8th century “Step Well” also known as Chand Baori (the local name) and two surrounding temples.
In terms of atmosphere, Agra is still connected with the Mughal era. The Mughals were not only great rulers, but also brilliant builders, and they left Agra and its environs with their finest architectural marvels. It boasts numerous beautiful monuments, the most famous of which is the Taj Mahal, which is a marvel of Mughal architecture at its finest. Each is distinctive and spectacular, including the vast but exquisite Agra Fort, the delicate artistry of Itimad-ud-tomb, daulah’s the grand Taj, and Akbar’s desolate city, Fatehpur Sikri. Their architectural brilliance can also be seen in the forts, palaces, and beautifully landscaped gardens, each one a quiet monument to a bygone era’s great grandeur.
Upon arrival in Agra, check into your hotel, shower and change, and then go on a sightseeing tour of Agra, including the Taj Mahal (Usually Taj Closed on Fridays). A Battery-Operated Car OR Tonga’s “horse carriage ride” can be hired/opted halfway from parking and will drop you up at the Taj Mahal’s gates.
Everything that has been written about the Taj Mahal is true and more. The white marble was quarried 200 miles distant and delivered to the site by a fleet of 1000 elephants, taking 22 years and 20,000 men to complete. In the mid-seventeenth century, Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan built it as a symbol of his love for his wife Mumtaz Mahal.
The Taj Mahal is unquestionably one of the world’s wonders. Though the Taj appears to be flawless from nearly every perspective, it is the close-up marble inlay work that is truly remarkable. You’ll have plenty of time to admire and be amazed by this magnificent structure.
After the Taj Mahal, the guests will be escorted for lunch (if desired), and then to the Agra Fort, which is a magnificent specimen of Mughal architecture. Under numerous centuries, Agra Fort served as the seat and bulwark of the Mughal Empire. The current construction traces its origins to Akbar, who established the walls and gates, as well as the first structures, on the eastern banks of the Yamuna River. The spectacular quarters and mosque were erected by Shah Jehan, while the outside ramparts were added by Aurangzeb. Visit the Royal Pavilions and the Hall of Public Audience.
If time allows, drive to Sikandra Fort after visiting Agra Fort. Return to Jaipur and drive to Jaipur. When you arrive in Jaipur, the driver will drop you off at the Marriott Hotel.
